Erin Caldwell, Players Rights Manager, the PCA

Back in 1996 in year 5 at St John Fisher Primary School in Coventry, a group of us were taken under the wing of PE teacher Mrs Blackmore and taught the basics of netball. We loved it. Break times couldn’t come around fast enough as we dashed to the playground to practise, wearing bibs that were too big and with posts that were too high.
Come the following year we were competing against other schools, and rather successful at doing so, with league, cup and tournament wins under our belts. When pictures of us with our trophies appeared in the local Coventry Telegraph we felt famous – very exciting for a group of 10-year-olds.
